Webinar: The Last Chapter

The Last Chapter

If you have horses; you are going to loose them someday. Don't you want them to go WELL to the Rainbow Bridge?

End of planning makes the situation a LITTLE bit easier on you, your horse, your veterinarian and all the people that know and care for your horse. Your older horse would want you to have a plan - not wait until Saturday night when he's struggling in the stall in pain from severe colic or major pasture accident to figure out what to do.

Join us and Rebecca as we talk about how to make a difficult situation for you and your horse.

Investment: $30 (non-refundable)

Speaker

Dr. Rebecca Husted

Rebecca holds a PhD in Animal Physiology but her real interest is equine behavior in various tough situations from trailer wrecks to barn fires to entrapped horses - thus she has been leading a variety of colleagues in teaching Technical Large Animal Emergency Rescue over the last 25 years in both North America as well as globally.  She is fascinated by the HUMAN behavior that is associated with these types of situations - and realized long ago that if situations can be PREVENTED - that is so much better for our horses.

Rebecca also edited and co-wrote the first textbook on Technical Large Animal Emergency Rescue (Wiley-Blackwell) in 2008.  She is a decorated combat veteran, retired Signal Officer, US ARMY, and holds a BS (Biology) from Wofford College. She is a support firefighter, incident safety officer and PIO for City of Gray Fire Department, has been providing training in Technical Large Animal Emergency Rescue (TLAERTM ) techniques across the US and internationally for over 25 years.

Kylie Bartel

Kylie Bartel is a horsewoman and psychotherapist who works with riders on connection, peak performance, and developing mutually beneficial/sustainable relationships.  She is a life-long learner and loves being able to bring psychology and horsemanship together in her therapy and coaching practice.  Kylie has a master’s degree in counselling psychology and specializes in blending rider sport psychology, trauma-informed psychotherapy, and relational horsemanship.

Kylie grew up trail riding and competing in three-day eventing in Chilliwack, BC.  Her love for horses and people led Kylie to begin her career working extensively with at-risk youth doing equine and nature-assisted therapy.  In 2019, Kylie moved to Meanook, AB for a year to study Relational Horsemanship™️ intensively with Josh Nichol.  During this time, Kylie discovered the development of self-carriage through the bridle horse progression and its application to cattle work.  Kylie was struck by how many parallels there are between thriving relationships with horses and people; she discovered that when she worked on the relationship with her horse, Kylie was required to develop skills that vastly improved her relationships with people as well.  Kylie believes that if we want our horses to be calm, responsive, and connected, we must lead by example and earn the horse’s trust by embodying the qualities we wish to see in them.  Simply put, the change we wish to see in others starts with us.

Kylie teaches workshops and clinics to riders of all disciplines and programs that focus on equine assisted therapy and learning.  Kylie also enjoys teaming up with other horse professionals to collaborate and promote relationships with horses that leave both the horse and rider better than we found them.

Primal Leadership.

Realizing the Power of Emotional Intelligence

by Daniel Goleman Ph.D

Daniel Goleman's international best seller Emotional Intelligence forever changed our concept of "being smart," showing how emotional intelligence (EI) - how we handle ourselves and our relationships - can determine life success more than IQ. Then, Working with Emotional Intelligence revealed how stellar career performance also depends on EI.

Now, Goleman teams with renowned EI researchers Richard Boyatzis and Annie McKee to explore the role of emotional intelligence in leadership. Unveiling neuroscientific links between organizational success or failure and "primal leadership," the authors argue that a leader's emotions are contagious. If a leader resonates energy and enthusiasm, an organization thrives; if a leader spreads negativity and dissonance, it flounders.

Drawing from decades of analysis, the authors show that resonant leaders excel not just through skill and smarts but also by connecting with others, using EI competencies such as empathy and self-awareness. And they employ up to six leadership styles - from visionary to coach to pacesetter - fluidly interchanging them as the situation demands. The program no leader in any walk of life can afford to miss, this unforgettable work transforms the art of leadership into the science of results.
