Kylie Bartel

Kylie Bartel is a horsewoman and psychotherapist who works with riders on connection, peak performance, and developing mutually beneficial/sustainable relationships.  She is a life-long learner and loves being able to bring psychology and horsemanship together in her therapy and coaching practice.  Kylie has a master’s degree in counselling psychology and specializes in blending rider sport psychology, trauma-informed psychotherapy, and relational horsemanship.

Kylie grew up trail riding and competing in three-day eventing in Chilliwack, BC.  Her love for horses and people led Kylie to begin her career working extensively with at-risk youth doing equine and nature-assisted therapy.  In 2019, Kylie moved to Meanook, AB for a year to study Relational Horsemanship™️ intensively with Josh Nichol.  During this time, Kylie discovered the development of self-carriage through the bridle horse progression and its application to cattle work.  Kylie was struck by how many parallels there are between thriving relationships with horses and people; she discovered that when she worked on the relationship with her horse, Kylie was required to develop skills that vastly improved her relationships with people as well.  Kylie believes that if we want our horses to be calm, responsive, and connected, we must lead by example and earn the horse’s trust by embodying the qualities we wish to see in them.  Simply put, the change we wish to see in others starts with us.

Kylie teaches workshops and clinics to riders of all disciplines and programs that focus on equine assisted therapy and learning.  Kylie also enjoys teaming up with other horse professionals to collaborate and promote relationships with horses that leave both the horse and rider better than we found them.
